Storytelling & Educational Website
National Park Service

A&T Integrated has years of experience building engaging interactive experiences for the National Park Service. We've told the many stories of Shenandoah National Park in Virginia, the abolitionists' Nathan and Polly Johnson's house in New Bedford, Massachusetts, and the story of Rhode Island mill towns during America's budding industrial revolution.

A&T worked with the National Park Service to create a series of web-based multimedia programs for Shenandoah National Park. Goals for this educational project included educating students on the park’s origins, founding, and the relocation of residents, while also providing an engaging user experience for audiences of all ages. Subsequent contracts produced curricula on the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) and Herbert Hoover's 'Rapidan Camp' retreat.

The Nathan and Polly Johnson House is a historic symbol of New Bedford, Massachusetts' thriving free black community and entrepreneurial spirit. A&T was tasked with telling the story of the Johnsons, their home, and notable people like Frederick Douglass, who lived with the Johnsons for a time after his escape from slavery in the Antebellum South. A&T created both a video history tour and a 3-D virtual tour of the Johnson house, which is partially restored with period furniture and artifacts.

Working closely with the National Park Service (NPS) and the Blackstone River Valley National Historic Park of Rhode Island and Massachusetts, A&T was tasked with creating a multimedia video highlighting the historical significance of the Blackstone River’s early mills and canal, and their effect on the industrialization of our young nation. Collaborating with NPS subject matter experts, we crafted a video script covering the site’s five major aspects of the park. From the earliest settlements and the people who worked there, to modern day development and use, each video is rich with reference photos which we then enhanced with 3D models and animations to depict mill buildings which no longer exist.
